Hello! Dionne is my given name, but my friends also call me Dio, or Astra. I’m currently 24 and I grew up in a little country called Singapore where I live with two dogs named Clover and Rose. Not long ago, I was living in Melbourne, Australia, as I did my undergrad there. It was a great experience, but I don’t miss it much since I want to one day live in a country that has a Disney theme park. It’s one of my lifelong dreams.
There are three things that drive me in life: books, video games, and animals. My love for all three began when I was a child; I cannot remember a time when I did not love any of these. According to my mum, it was the Harry Potter series that ignited my passion for books, but I think that’s quite the case for most booklovers in my generation.
(A Slytherin at your service, by the way. And on your left is a picture of me and my cousin!)
As for video games, my uncle bought me a PlayStation One when I was six. The Final Fantasy games were among the first I’ve played, and I still follow that series to this day.
And animals, well. Who doesn’t love animals?
In terms of genre for books, I usually lean towards contemporary literature, Japanese literature, fantasy, and young adult. My long list of favourites includes Everything Begins and Ends at the Kentucky Club by Benjamin Alire Sáenz, Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro, Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, The Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss, The Raven Cycle series by Maggie Stiefvater, and The Kingfountain series by Jeff Wheeler. I also love all books by Brandon Sanderson, Haruki Murakami, and Sarah J Maas. There are just so many books and authors to love! It’s difficult to pick a handful when there are so many gems out there.
When it comes to games, I play anything that catches my fancy. I would like to say I’m somewhat decent at most games, but I’m absolutely trash at platformers. My palms sweat, my heart starts to beat too fast, and I just can’t do it. Games like Bloodborne, the Kingdom Hearts series, the Fallout series, Stardew Valley, most of the Final Fantasy series, and the Atelier series are a few of the ones I adore. I love games with a good story. My guilty pleasure lies with rhythm games, especially Taiko no Tatsujin.
Don’t tell my dogs, but I love snakes, and not just because of my Hogwarts house. Their being predators, how they function, and how much their venom helps in the medical industry intrigue me. I think they’re pretty rad. Dogs are definitely up there with them. And cats. I also love cats. And all animals. I’d love to live with all sorts of animals. I love animals, okay.
Well, that’s more than enough about me! If you’d like to have a chat, feel free to drop me a message on Twitter (@astralitte), on PSN (Miliazer), or via email (email@example.com).
